Red Ribbon WEEK
Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized event that began as a way to honor the life of DEA agent Kiki Camarena, who was murdered by drug traffickers in Mexico City in 1985. After his death, Agent Camarena's supporters began to wear red ribbons to signify their commitment to reduce the demand for drugs in their communities. Soon the act of wearing red ribbons grew into a national phenomenon known as the Red Ribbon Campaign. Every year, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated from October 23-31st across the nation.
The Edwardsville District 7 Students will celebrate Red Ribbon Week from the 23rd-31st of October, and this race will serve as a kick-off to all of the fun celebrations that will take place within the schools.
